Welcome to La Jungla, Guánica, PR ....

This is only the second time in years that we spotted a mantee at La Jungla, let alone 3 at one time. At first sight it appeared to be an injured manatee, we called DRNA for rescue. As luck would have it, Dr. Mignucci, founder and director of Caribbean Manatee Conservation Center, just happened to be in Guánica! Arriving, he began an informal lecture on manatee life, assured us this manatee was not injured; this event was a mating event. His wish was to tag the mother to be and follow her travels, but she and her two boyfriends swam off. Perhaps in 13 months, mother and child will make an appearance.
